Daron in Media
With the surge in post-armageddon related films and the ongoing popularity of grunge images, I have decided to shoot a dozen or so of these images and choose about 4 for my commercial portfolio. So far, I've done three shoots and have three images that I am reasonably happy with.
This is Cadynce, shot on location in an abandoned smelting furnace on a very hot day. She was a trooper and did a great job. I wanted her to look like a hot zombie rather than a hero , and created darkness under her eyes and amplified the 'dirty' factor in the grunge look in photoshop. Lighting was multi-directional background lights to create a sense of unrest and a single large softbox above and to camera right. .jpg)
Here's Kevin. We made the decision to shoot this on location on a 110 degree day and in the end, we used this image against a blue sky and replaced the background with one from a recent shoot with a pending storm. He was cross-lit across his his abs to show off the definition with fill from just to camera right to keep the overall contrast within the range we needed.

This image of Marbella is the simplest and strongest of the bunch -- it was lit with a single large light source to camera left, carefully positioned to create the shadow down her arm. This image was processed for the grunge effect and some treatment to her torso -- and increasing the impact of the weapons. Less photoshop than one might expect, here's a before and after: Click here
