Working for the Marana Heritage Project, I have been enlisted to shoot landscapes as well as flora images for their natural heritage book. One of my 'hit list' photos is a compelling landscape of the northern end of the Tucson Mountain range. After multiple scouting hikes and two lackluster location shoots, I hiked to this location before sunrise just after a rain and created this image. There was a band of clouds to the east just above the Catalina Mountains which caused some issues getting the sun just right across the entire scene. This image is actually a composite of two separate images taken about 3 minutes apart. The foreground was perfect but the peaks in the background were in shadow... then the reverse happened. So, I merged the two images and came up with one strong landscape that looks completely natural.
