I have been watching the weather maps and thought tonight was going to be the sunset to finally capture Ragged Top -- I've looked at this peak every day for the last 12 years, wanting to shoot it but never making the time. This was the week, and tonight was the first time I made it out with my camera.

I think every photographer has a location like this.... So, I've been watching the weather radar and the sky waiting for the perfect sunset -- two days ago I had a prior commitment and missed an incredible sky -- so this afternoon I get there and hike in to find the perfect location.... and the sky never comes together... gray, lifeless clouds over the peak. The sky directly above and behind me were full of great color, but nothing I could use for my shot....

So, I used my single SB24 and created this saguaro portrait with twelve exposures and blended them together..... Disappointed -- dark, moody, a bit angry; frustrated. I think it manifested in this image.

I later went to the location pre-dawn and was able to create this image:
