I recently had the occasion to fulfill the vision of a band -- they wanted promotional images that matched their sound and vision. Dark, Moody, and urban in a post-industrial armageddonish sort ofway...
So, I processed a selected image in a number of styles and presented it for their review.
This is a standard softlight, beauty treatment. I cleaned imperfections in their skin and brought the highlights into control. This was the basis for the other stylized images.
I call this one urban grunge, where it brings out the details and darkens them to look dirty and a bit cartoonish.
This is called acid, which is an effect somewhat similar to processing color film in a special black and white chemistry including Hydrochloric acid.
Finally, an acid process with a bit of sharpening to make it a bit more grunge.
The client chose Acid, which was my personal choice, too. So a post of the processed images will be coming soon!
